Cuisine locale Conquistadoc

Sunshine flavours

Local cuisine is both authentic and hearty, colourful and spontaneous. Its roots lie in the Languedoc region at the crossroads of Provence, Catalonia and the Toulouse region. It is traditional but can also be contemporary and innovative.

The fruit and vegetables of our friendly and colourful markets contain all the warmth of the sun. And of course... there’s the olive oil which is so good for your health! The nearby Cévennes foothills offer the authentic flavours of chestnuts and mushrooms as well as charcuterie (cure d pork specialities) and goat cheese to local gastronomy. One breath of the sea breeze will leave you dreaming of fresh fish and seafood. “Ragoût de seiches” (Squid Stew) or “Bouille du Pécheur” (Fisherman’s Stew), both dishes used to be cooked on the beach in villages situated at the mouth of the river Orb: Valras-Plage and Sérigan.

Béziers-Méditerranée is not just a melting-pot of products and recipies. The local chefs are creative! So, be as adventurous as they are and discover the love of local food, "with a taste of the sea, a hint of the moutains" and all washed down with delicious wines.
