Wine tourism
Here in the Languedoc, wine tells a story of a land and a life. It’s a
privileged encounter with the man or the woman who made it. In the Béziers
Méditerranée region, vines and wine are a religion and a way of life. Come and
meet our winegrowers in private wine cellars or cooperatives; listen, look,
smell and taste the nuances of all the wines of Southern France.
The
vine stock is the legend of Béziers Méditerranée. Its roots dig deep into 25
centuries of the history of a land blessed by Bacchus. It’s the landscape that
forms our great wines. Like the men and women of the region, Béziers
Méditerranée wines are delightful, distinctive, warm and refined. From the
foothills of the Cévennes to the shores of the Mediterranean, these red, white
and rosé wines are made from a wide range of grape varieties and soils and offer
excellent value for money.
The fruit and vegetables in our friendly,
colourful markets contain all the heat of the sun. And of course there’s the
olive oil, which is so good for your health! The ‘Haut Cantons’ in the nearby
hinterland offer the authentic flavours of chestnuts, mushrooms, charcuterie and
goats’ cheese to local gastronomy. One breath of the sea breeze and you’re
dreaming of fresh fish and seafood, “ragoût de seiches” (squid stew) or “bouille
du pécheur” (fisherman’s stew) – which used to be cooked on the beach, at the
mouth of the river Orb, at Valras-Plage and Sérignan. ‘Béziers Méditerranée’ is
not just a melting-pot of products and recipes; its chefs also like to be
creative. So take on their spirit of discovery and love of good food “with a
taste of the sea and a hint of the mountains”, all washed down with delicious
wines.
